Seems more about the slots than the matching process. From what I hear, many just want specific residencies and don’t want less desirable roles in lower paying or rural locations. Most of the unmatched do research for a year to improve their application and get matched the next year.

Just read through this...interesting, I didn't know about it. It was a level 5 out of 7 disaster, which is the same level as Three Mile Island. Looks like turning the fans on to cool off things helped spread the fire (had they known about the fire...)

@Jolly said in 464 lbs and he ran a 5.86: If he lost 50 pounds, he'd still outweigh centers and guards by 100 pounds. If drafted, he would be the heaviest ever drafted by over 80lbs. He actually came in as a freshman at 315 or some such. They actually put the weight on to him. Frankly, I think they screwed up. The guy would be quicker at 350, and would still be a helluva lot of mass to move.

@jon-nyc said in $2.41 and $4: Paid 8.99 for large. Same high end brand I usually buy. No XLs last two or three trips. Umm, paying for large and XL what? Asking for a friend.

@89th said in Your afternoon entertainment: My favorite part (hard to pick) was the "I don't believe I've ever read the book 'The case for reparations'" and he said "Here you tweet: I'm going to take the day off to read 'The case for reparations'" Well, presumably there are many people who say they're going to read a book and then never get around to read the book.

The Greenlanders should make sure they send Hegseth extra bottles of Whiskey… up their chances of getting a drunk text from him with invasion plans.

Tugboats are like everything else in life--the wheels go round and round and it chugs down the track.

@xenon said in Meanwhile, in India...: Celebrity politicians and demagoguery is the norm in India. Bollywood actors and top tier sports athletes often go into high level politics. The weirdest one for me is India's good friend and neighbour to the north. Who would have imagined that Imran Khan, the spectacularly good 1980's cricketer and Oxford-educated playboy would become this anti-west figure? Did he really dislike Ian Botham that much? It's not as if it's an occupation without danger.

Problem here is I need to put the CC in Spanish for Mayla. No problem for me, and I’ll catch myself reading them when the audio gets shitty. But doesn’t help the boy. He got really frustrated during Pulp Fiction and even Escape From Alcatraz. In his case it’s obviously not age-related hearing loss. But dependence on CCs could be part of it.

@Klaus said in Tariffs for TokTok: I believe the main reason why Trump loves tariffs so much is that they give him endless opportunities to reward or punish the people/companies/countries he is dealing with. I think Trump has really bought into some of the economic policies of McKinley and the overall lack of inflation in the 19th century. Would not surprise me to see a $1 coin issued that contained a small amount of silver.
